04/26/2008Do hair relaxers slowly fade?
- I do not really like my hair curly. I want long stright hair but I know that I am going to change my mind later XD I was hoping it would gradually fade out if I got one but my mom said that it would not. Instead my roots will just be curly and my ends straight until it completely grows out. Is this true?
- Best Answer:Yes, your mom is right.
Why not try getting a perm instead. This won't straighten your hair, but it might relax your curl a bit if you have them use larger rods/curlers, which iwll enable you to choose. You can either blow it out strait easily, or you can use some mousse and a diffuser and have nice, beautiful curls that are looser and more manageable.
- Answer:Yes, this is true. Relaxers chemically straighten your hair--a permanent change. Your mom is right--new growth will be your hair's natural texture. There are products out there that you could use on your hair (with a blow dryer and tension) to get it straight, but still have the option of going curly the next time you wash it.
- Answer:Yeah. Your hair will be straight until it grows out. However, if you want to keep it straight, you can just do touch-ups on your roots. That's what I do. Otherwise, just let it grow out naturally.
