04/26/2008Why does music on Zune get Removed when Deleted from PC?
- I would like to know why because this is very annoying. I am trying to free space on pc while retaining all my songs on the Zune. Also is there a good mp3 player that does NOT have this stupid feature?
- Best Answer:In the Zune software you are supposed to be able to set things to manaul sync so that you can choose your own. I've found that mine will only do this with videos.
If you really need the space on your computer then do yourself a favor and get an external drive. If you ever have to reformat your Zune or erase all of the content and resync it you will be glad you still have access to the original files. I had to erase all content and resync my Zune when it started freezing on everything. I was glad to have my stuff still on the computer. I now have it all on an external drive and can move it to any computer in the house. That came in handy when my computer crashed and I had to have the motherboard repaired and the hard drive replaced.
- Answer:Most mp3 players do what is called synchronizing with computers, meaning they replicate your media library from your computer on the player. So, as long as the music remains on your computer, it continues to sync with your player, but once you remove it from your computer, you can no longer do that. I don't know if this is possible with the Zune, though I imagine it is, most players will let you drag and drop files to them rather than sync them. This will let you continue to add files to the player without having to keep everything on your computer all the time. You may want to try that and see if it works for you. Hope that helps.
