- i have felt tip pens to write down colours, a car headlight bulb for voltage detection and a crowbar for opening boxes, will a budgie do for gas detection???

- Answer:No, the best thing for gas detection (other than your issue GDU) is box of matches or a lighter.
If there is gas present then the matches will get rid of it for you .
And for voltage just use yer tongue !!!
