04/27/2008With the economy rapidly declining, what substantiated advice can you give to recent college graduates?
- I am graduating from college soon and I am looking to find a career related to public relations, marketing, media, etc. I have probably sent over 100 resumes so far and have not received one reply. From an experienced business person, what advice can you offer me? This can be anything related to
-interviews
-resume and cover letter preparation
-experience
-good places to look
-or just unique suggestions.
Anything would help...with the economy declining so fast and seeing so many people around me losing jobs and sources of incomes, I'm really frightened not only for myself, but for a possible second great depression. (sounds out there, but things aren't getting much better.)
- Best Answer:You need to register at as many employment agencies as possible ( I registered at six) and post your resume on Monster.com and yahoo hot jobs. You need to check the classifieds in your local paper and online and when you do get to the interview part, be professional, ask questions about the company and do research on the company before the interview so you have a basic grasp of what they do and about their history. Avoid hobbies and personal stuff, stick to the job and never discuss salary unless the employer brings it up first. Be careful not to get too relaxed and too friendly with the interviewer; they trick you sometimes and just say what you need to in order to respond to the question and don't volunteer any info unless it is asked.
- Answer:Public relations, marketing and media are the first to be cut back......you must know this by now.........take what every you can get and hunker down until things get better.......you may have to work out side your choice for a long time...........if not until you reitre.........
- Answer:What kind of substantiation are you looking for? Academic and statistical proof, instead of anecdotal and historic experience?
