- Answer:Some of the fastest money I ever made came from buying and then selling securities, both bonds and stocks, where I perceived that their price was significantly wrong.
For example, I read in the Economist magazine a 'for example' comment that the government of France was offering 30 year bonds with a yield of 12%. Now that was not a guaranteed winner. But France had a stable currency... no justification for paying so much.
They too must have read the Economist, and within a week they had cut their interest to 8%.
I had borrowed $125,000 at 7% to buy those bonds. If they staid at 12% My risk was that the Franc might devalue more than the Canadian dollar. But an interest rate cut could and did offer a big short term gain.
Buying anything that is greatly under priced and holding it for a rise is the fast way to make money.
