  • We have been trying to start a family, and I am unsure of whether or not I can be affected by this or not. I know that this might be a llame question, but can cancer cells pass from him to me?
  • Best Answer:You are not at risk. Even if some of his tumor cells were passed in his semen, they would not be likely to find a suitable place to take root, and if they did, your body would recognize them as foreign cells and reject (kill) them immunologically.
  • Answer:The typical answer is "no", but you may be exposed to certain toxins, oncogenes and or cancer causing chemicals called carcinogens. The chances of your susceptibility are directly proportional to your overall health and immune system functionality. While the chance of anything happening to you is REMOTE, it isn't completely impossible.
  • Answer:No, What you have to worry about is his potential ability to father a child after he has had cancer treatment. I suggest that you talk to his Dr about banking some sperm now so you can have a family later. You are safe.
