- Hey
Do Macs have a disk defragmenter or a disk cleanup like PC’s do? I was just wondering. Thanks.
- Best Answer:Macs automatically optimize the drive whenever new software is installed, and on a periodic daily cycle (usually during a period of inactivity in the background) this continued on-the-fly defragging means that you never need to even think about defragging manually. Macs have had this feature since the launch of OS 10.1 in the late 90's.
- Answer:the defragmentation of the hard drives in Vista is now maintained by the operating system. So, it is likely that OSX is similar in that it automatically defragments the disks in the background for you.
