  • Alright I work basic entry level job for a PC company and this summer I want to expand my skills so I can move up to a more technical side of the job. I plan on starting with A+ but then I wanted to know what should I start going to after that CCNA? Any suggestion or links to books is welcomed.
  • Best Answer:CCNA is an excellent qualification, for reasons you've probably already covered in your own research. It's highly sought after, but at the same time relatively commonly held. One of its key benefits, of course, is that it is the first step in a Cisco career path. Its grounding in the basics of the technology and the intricacies of some of the day to day elements is highly useful.

The '+' courses are, of course, also excellent but I think that the Cisco career path is something not to pass up.

Edit/PS: Consider studying through the OU!
  • Answer:A+ is a good start, however I would recommend taking net+ before you take ccna. It covers everything and then some. Further you might also want to consider security+ and server+. This will give you a well rounded side. Also being well verse in several OS will also help. Learning MS, Apple, Linux, etc. will help you in the long run.
  • Answer:you can use whatever "books" you want i personally would just google if u find yourself in a ditch because what books teach you is limited to that certain book and you will just learn that writers point of veiw probly if i was to recommend any book i would say networking for dummies only because they will link you with other sources
  • Answer:A+ is a good start, and so is network +. However, I will say that if you're going to go for ccna, you will recover most of what the network+ covers, save stuff like network operating systems.

if you email me i can try to help you out with some excellent learning materials for most aspects of it.
