04/26/2008In Command (MS-DOS) How do you run CHKDSK with out it going into Read-only mode?
- It's starting to get on my nerves plz help
- Best Answer:You can't run chkdsk in /f mode on your main drive while Windows is running. Period.
Instead, when you try to and it asks if you want to schedule a chkdsk run for the next reboot, say Yes, then restart and let chkdsk run to completion.
Don't expect to be able to read the results, though. About five seconds after chkdsk finishes, it does a reboot.
Hope that helps.
- Answer:chkdsk/ f
the next time you start your computer it will automatically begin when windows loads. I had to restart and retype the command a few times to get it to work on my computer though.
- Answer:chkdsk/f
it will create files from what it reads and then you can go in and look at the files and decide whether or not to delete them.
You probably will want to delete ALL of them.
