  • 5 hp 4 stroke mercury, i know you can put them down on the handle side but i would like to bring it in to remote lakes and would have to be in atv trailer. Once the oil is out,is there any thing else i should know about?
  • Best Answer:When you drain the oil for transport then you will be fine to lay the engine at any angle.

  • Answer:I have a merc & i have it on its side sometimes. hard to pick up w/o a friend, though. Oil out would be much better than I handle mine - cause i leave it in & mine works fine. (Of course, mine is much more hp than yours.)
