04/26/2008Address meaning?! please answer :-)?
  • OK, so if something on a car insurance statement or a paper relating to car insurance says Residence- and then the house number and then 1/2 and then the street, etc...

    Example: 5 1/2 Williow Drive...

    What does the 1/2 mean?
  • Best Answer:It's a duplex or basement apartment. If it applied to you, you know.
  • Answer:There's a house up the street that is number 16 1/2. It's because there was originally numbers 15, 16, 17 etc.. but they built another house in between 16 and 17 so they numbered it 16 1/2 instead of re-numbering all the houses on the street.
  • Answer:I know this sounds silly, but it means that their house is in between number 5 and number 6 on Willow Drive.

Sometimes they use that with duplexes.
  • Answer:I would assume they are meaning that there are two houses on the same lot or very close in proximity.

That is like when you have 985-1 Willow St. or 529 #2 Adams Ave.

    Etc.
  • Answer:I do believe that it means that the person living at that address lives in a duplex.
